Garganta del Chorro

El Chorro is a limestone gorge about an hour and a half to the North West of Malaga through which the Guadalhorce river runs. It was dammed in 1921 forming 3 reservoirs now used for kayaking and other water sports. The area is re-nowned for it’s rock-climbing, hiking, mountain-biking and camping

Nerja Caves

Nerja is a lovely resort just 45 minutes from Malaga. I’ts claim to fame is the set of underground caves containing huge stalactites, stalagmites and columns in addition to Paleolithic cave paintings. Some of these caves are open to the public and house occasional concerts in the Summer.

Gibraltar

The British overseas territory of Gibraltar is approximately an hours drive away. There are many British shops where you can buy duty free bargains. It is also famous for the Barbary Apes which roam free in the Nature reserve on the upper slopes of the rock which can be reached by cable car or taxi. Gibraltar is also a great place to take a trip out to see dolphins and whales.
